Amy Chapin Doster, 52 years old, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at her home in Commerce with her son Ethan Doster at her side after a valiant fight with pancreatic cancer for the past 12 months.
Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends and many supporters carried her through this battle, but it was the love for her son, Ethan, that gave her the most strength.
Amy was born July 21, 1965, in Greenville to Eddie Jack Chapin and Charlotte Chapin and lived a majority of her life in Commerce. After graduating from Commerce High School in 1983, Amy went on to obtain a cosmetology degree and was the owner and operator of Amy's Cost Cutters for over 20 years.
Throughout her life she maintained a demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy and compassion, shown through her constant smiling and laughter will never be forgotten.
She was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Jack Chapin; her mother, Charlotte Chapin; and her beloved nephew, Richy Iles.
She is survived by her son, Ethan Doster of Commerce; brother Eddie Jack Chapin Jr.; and her nephew, Evan Chapin, both from Commerce; and her sister, Carin Chapin from Dallas.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at The Church of Christ, 1900 Culver Street in Commerce, with David Gibson officiating.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. prior to the funeral service on Monday morning. Graveside service will follow at Rosemound Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her mother.
Pallbearers are Shea Arrington Shaw, Jerry McDaniel, Eddie Smith, Terry Harris, Joe Davis, Jim Donald Adkins with honorary pallbearer Gerald Hubbard.
